The best answers are in the questions
Doing the hard work and heavy lifting
What draws me to Substack?
As a pastor, coach, gardener, and educator, people often expected me to be an “answer man,” offering statements and conclusions to some of their deepest longings and desires. Increasingly, I found this short-sighted and lacking depth because they needed to do the hard work of what worked for them.
Reflecting on this, I discovered asking the right questions in coaching and counseling put them on the right path. They had to dig deep, doing what I call heavy lifting through prayer, reading, reflection, and spending time with others to find out what real hope looked like.
Throughout several of my posts you will find my passion for the home we call Earth, how we care for it, and how we can all thrive in it. I believe the work of self-reflection should always lead to what will help us thrive in our homes, neighborhoods, and culture. There are no easy fixes or quick answers to what we face, but there is a path coupled with questions that I hope will take us to where we need to go.
That is what my newsletter is about: offering questions with a few insights and resources that will hopefully give you the tools and equipment for the journey ahead.
Subscribe to my newsletter if you like my thought-provoking questions and insightful reflections.
